The history of TSI began back in 2005, when the business was established as a sole proprietorship. On 25 September 2006, it became TSI Telematic Services GmbH, establishing the company in its present legal form – the anniversary we are celebrating 20 years later.
What began as a small family business has grown over two decades together with our customers, their requirements and the technological possibilities.
Much has changed during this time – in telematics, in vehicles and, not least, in our customers' operational processes. Throughout it all, TSI has remained a family business to this day.
20 years of TSI are therefore a good reason to take a brief look back – and, above all, to say thank you.
Telematics is more than ever before
From the very beginning, TSI used telematics for much more than simply tracking vehicles: we collected and transmitted vehicle, status and measurement data and turned it into useful information for day-to-day operations. Since then, technological capabilities have expanded considerably, opening up new applications and allowing us to meet increasingly diverse requirements.
Vehicles and commercial vehicle fleets remain at the heart of our work. But for us, telematics has long since extended beyond the vehicle.
Today, we monitor everything from access gates at company premises and buildings to machinery and a wide range of sensors, integrating them into operational processes – whether for temperature monitoring, automatic alerts in the event of technical faults or even the control of irrigation systems.
As these possibilities have grown, so have our solutions. Specific customer requirements have inspired many of the features we offer today. Over the years, we have continuously developed them further and brought them together on a common platform.

What hasn’t changed
Technologies, vehicles and requirements have changed fundamentally over the past 20 years. But there are some things we have deliberately chosen not to change.
A family business that stays flexible
TSI remains a family business to this day. We make decisions quickly and without unnecessary bureaucracy, development and customer support work closely together, and many of our customers have been with us for many years. This continuity also shapes the way we work together every day.
Direct contact, not a hotline
Our customers particularly value quick access to the right people. At TSI, that means speaking directly to someone who knows our solutions – not an anonymous hotline, long waits or multiple layers of support. And when more specialist knowledge is needed, they can readily involve colleagues from development or technical support.
One partner from start to finish
We provide the hardware in the vehicle or on site, transmit the data and bring it into software, analysis and operational processes. This allows us to cover the complete solution and gives our customers one point of contact across the entire chain.
This is particularly valuable in telematics. A requirement rarely belongs neatly to just software, hardware, the vehicle, mobile communications or an operational process. Because we understand and manage the entire chain, we can work across these boundaries and develop the right solution as a whole.
Our relationship with our customers therefore goes far beyond dealing with individual support requests. We work together with our customers as long-term technical partners.
Evolve, don’t replace
Our solutions are designed to grow with new requirements over the long term. A new requirement doesn't automatically mean a new product or replacing an existing system: many of the features that are now an integral part of TSI Fleetmanager originated over the years from specific requirements brought to us by our customers. Our solutions grow with their needs rather than being regularly replaced.
Over many years, this has created more than lasting business relationships. It has created a way of working together where people know each other, tackle challenges together and quickly reach the right person. This is the kind of close relationship we want to preserve as our solutions expand and new technologies emerge.
20 years built on strong relationships
20 years of TSI would not have been possible without the people and businesses that have been part of our journey.
We would especially like to thank our customers – for their trust, their loyalty over many years, and for the valuable input and ideas that have inspired new solutions. Some of these relationships have been with us for a significant part of those 20 years.
We would also like to thank our partners and suppliers. Over the years, we have built an international network of long-standing partners across Germany, many European countries and around the world. These relationships go far beyond sourcing individual components: with some of our partners, we work closely on the development, adaptation and manufacture of solutions tailored specifically to our requirements.
And, of course, our thanks go to all our current and former employees, who have helped build TSI, shape the company and move it forward over the years.
So 20 years of TSI are not just our story, but the result of many long-standing partnerships and solutions developed together.
What comes next?
Standing still has never been part of TSI’s approach over the past 20 years – and that isn’t about to change. New vehicle technologies, electric mobility, increasing interconnectivity between vehicles, systems and devices, and the digitalisation of operational processes beyond the office are already opening up new possibilities.
These developments are being driven not only by the growing need to make processes more efficient and strengthen competitiveness. New and increasingly extensive legal and documentation requirements are also adding new demands – for example, around the recording and documentation of working hours.
Artificial intelligence and the rapidly growing amount of available data are opening up further possibilities for gaining new insights and automating processes – and will increasingly shape how businesses operate and compete.
It is difficult to predict which of these developments and possibilities will become commonplace in the years ahead. What we do know is this: we will continue to listen closely to what our customers actually need – and turn those needs into solutions that work and prove themselves in day-to-day operations.
We’re ready to build tomorrow’s solutions.
